HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ – More houses of worship have moved their weekly services online in response to county and state officials requests for greater social distancing and hygiene to combat the community spread of COVID-19.
Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Hasbrouck Heights will be worshipping and meeting online. On Sundays, the will have a 30 minute service at 10:30 and on Wednesdays at noon, they will gather for prayer. The church is using Zoom, “so we can have a sense of community,” according to Rev. Susan Nelson-Colaneri, Pastor. If anyone wants to be included in the live online worship via Zoom, they can email her at [email protected].
Iglesia Bautista Hispana in Hasbrouck Heights has moved its services online. Members can view the 1pm service with Pastor Ray Cabrera through its Facebook page at Iglesia Bautista Hispana.
The First Reformed Church of Hasbrouck Heights will also stream their 10 am service on Facebook Live, according to Pastor Debbie Rundecker. She noted “the typical liturgy will not happen… so it will be a simple message and hopefully words of encouragement and a song or two played over my cell phone or computer.”
Rundecker had emailed the church earlier in the week to offer support and raise their spirits, “There are true and noble things happening as a result of our current situation. A local restaurant is closing so they cooked all the food they had and sent it to seniors in our community. A friend who is currently housebound received an abundance of food and supplies from a dear person who went out of her way to go and shop and drop it off. My friend had not even asked for anything and yet there at her door stood one of God’s beloved children sharing out of her abundance…Think on these things…think on the promises of God to never leave us or forsake us.”
Bible Baptist Church in Hasbrouck Heights announced in a letter to the congregation on Wednesday that “until state restrictions are lifted” they are going to a livestream format for the Sunday morning 10:30 service through the church’s website.
“While we are separated, we are united by the Holy Spirit. We ask that you pray fervently for these times and for God to stop this virus. We pray that we are taking this time to feed our minds and soul with The Word of God and not the news only,” said the Pastoral staff.
