Igniting the Spark in a Jewish Monk

There is a young Jewish woman who began to get involved in Judaism thanks to Rabbi Dovi Hennig from Chengdu, a town in China, but at the same time as participating in activities with the Chabad emissary, she is still going to events at a local monk.

On Sunday, before the first Hanukkah candle was lit, the young woman informed Rabbi Dovi Hennig that she would not attend the Chanukah candle lighting in the Chabad House, as she was going to the monk’s ceremony.

Rabbi Dovi Hennig, who realized that he would not be able to change her decision, decided to persuade her at the very least to take a menorah with her to the monk, and light the first candle there and publicize the miracle.

Concerned, she made the proposal to the monk, who surprisingly agreed to her request. He honored her by lighting the candle while welcoming the participants to the monk’s ceremony.

At the end of the lighting, participants were amazed to see that the monk was tearful. He was excited to tell them that he was born to a Jewish mother, and that he was a Jew actually according to Halacha.

Lighting the young woman’s candles lit the Jewish sparkle in him, and after realizing the sign he received by Divine providence from the G-d, he decided to contact the Chabad emissary Rabbi Hennig.

In the few days that have passed since then, they have already had a conversation, with Rabbi Hennig working to succeed in bringing him back to the fold, and the Jewish spark continues to burn, stronger and stronger.
