Chabad.org features programs from New York and Florida
The 120th anniversary of the Rebbe’s birth draws nearer, excitement is building. Governors are signing proclamations, declaring the day to be “Education and Sharing Day” in their states, families are visiting the Ohel—the Rebbe’s resting place in Queens, N.Y.—and communities around the globe are holding farbrengens (Chassidic gatherings featuring song, Torah and storytelling) to mark the occasion.
For the benefit of those who may not have access to a local farbrengen, Chabad.org is streaming several gatherings, each of which is a collaborative effort of dozens of Chabad centers in South Florida and the New York area, respectively.
On Thursday, April 7, they will be able to watch the proceedings at celebrations held at New York’s Park East Synagogue. Speakers will include host Rabbi Arthur Schneier, former Connecticut Sen. Joseph Lieberman and Rabbi Simon Jacobson, all of whom merited extensive guidance from and interaction with the rebbe.
On Wednesday, April 6, viewers were able to “join” a crowd in South Florida that will be addressed by globe-trotting orator and thinker, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak (Y.Y.) Jacobson, and enjoy Chassidic melodies from Cantor Yaakov Lemmer and his brother, Shulem Lemmer.
