Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed a proclamation in honor of Education and Sharing Day.

THE STATE OF TEXAS
GOVERNOR

To all to whom these presents shall come,
Greetings: Know ye that this official recognition is presented to all observing

Education and Sharing Day
April 9, 2025

Education, the cornerstone of a strong and free society, determines what we know and shapes who we are. In that light, education entails more than the mere transmission of facts and figures; rather, it must prepare pupils for a life of responsibility, purpose, and honor.

Few understood this profound truth better than Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, the Lubavitcher Rebbe. A scholar and leader, he strove to advance a mode of education rooted in both knowledge and virtue. He believed that learning should inspire students to devote themselves to a higher calling and uplift others. His work touched lives throughout the world, and his vision resonates to this day.

Each year, on the anniversary of the Rebbe’s birth, leaders at every level of government observe Education and Sharing Day and recommit to the principles he championed. By investing in students’ moral formation, we will empower them to author an even brighter chapter in the story of our people.

At this time, I encourage all Texans to reflect on the power of education, not only as a path to success but also as a means of service. By instilling knowledge, integrity, and kindness in the next generation, we will honor the Rebbe’s legacy and strengthen the foundation of our state.

First Lady Cecilia Abbott joins me in encouraging all Texans to observe Education and Sharing Day with appropriate programs and activities.

In testimony whereof, I have hereunto signed my name and caused the Seal of the State of Texas to be affixed at the City of Austin this the 4th day of March, 2025.

Greg Abbott
Governor of Texas
