‘It was always the sincere prayers of Jewish children that aroused heaven’s mercy’
Some 2,000 children representing dozens of Hebrew schools from across the United States run by Chabad-Lubavitch gathered on Sunday morning to give charity, learn Torah and recite prayers for the safety of Jews in Ukraine.
During the first-ever Hebrew School Day of Unity, children came together online to dance, sing and perform mitzvot. They also heard words of inspiration from Cherry Markovitch, a Chabad-Lubavitch emissary in Kyiv (Kiev), Ukraine.
“Throughout Jewish history, it was always the sincere prayers of the Jewish children that aroused heaven’s mercy,” said Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky, vice chairman of Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch—the educational arm of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement—and chair of CKids International, the Chabad children’s network. “Today, yet again, we turn to the power of the youth to bring safety to our brethren.”
